Employment Maintenance refers to the types of competencies related to the client’s ability to keep a job once it is obtained. Some maintenance competencies may overlap with personal and environmental factors and with generic skills.

To explore this dimension, review the client’s:

Past work history; any evidence of difficulty in holding a job; quality of references; difficulty with previous employers or co-workers; perception of self as a worker.

Self-sufficiency may be difficult to validate in an assessment interview but possible areas of difficulty can be discussed and, if necessary, included in an action plan
